Either you do it or you don’t. There’s no in-between. There’s no such thing as a half-hearted effort. You cannot exert a half-hearted effort and expect a remarkable result.
In the words of the great Jedi Master Yoda, “Do or do not. There is no try.”
You cannot just show up at work and expect to be promoted. You have to be there and be really there. You have to do your best, show us what you’ve got, and, most importantly, deliver results. Don’t just sit there waiting for your salary. Make the most of being there!
You cannot just create a product and put it out there. You have to create a product people will want to buy. Better yet, create a product that exceeds their expectations. The same goes with your services. Don’t just put it out there.
You cannot just write a blog post, put it out there, and expect it to bring traffic to your blog. (This is a note to myself as well.) You have to write a post that will change other people’s lives. Or, at the very least, change their perspectives. There are millions of blogs out there and even more blog posts. What makes yours any different? What makes yours unforgettable?
Showing up is half the battle. But, it’s only precisely that—half the battle. There’s still the other half. And that other half is what separates those who show up from those who get picked, those who make it, those who succeed, and whatever you want to call them.
Make commitments and honor them. Keep your promises.
Make showing up count. After all, you’re already there. You’ve already given time to show up. Make it count!
