How to Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it becomes. In the case of gratitude, the more grateful you become.

It is also a powerful mood. When you're "in the mood," it can help you do better and achieve more with what you're doing.

You have to nurture your gratitude.

We all know that we have to practice gratitude. But, that's a vague advice.

To practice gratitude, you have to put practices into place. Preferably, daily practices.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Keep a gratitude journal and write on it at the start or at the end of your day.
  2. Go out of your way to say thank you to one person you don't see often—maybe by giving him or her a phone call or sending an email.
  3. Give away a blessing you received, but you have no need for.

Or you can combine some of these practices. The important thing is to make gratitude a daily habit.
