How do you build a successful career? From the successful people I know, it’s by showing up every day. Doing what’s necessary, sometimes more. Being on time. Improving themselves, even gradually. One small effort at a time. Drip by drip.
How do you create a collection? Something I’m hoping to create with my drawings and blogs. It’s by showing up every day. Doing what’s necessary, sometimes more. Tinkering. Experimenting. Trying something new. Maybe a different style or a different process. Learning (almost) every day. Improving oneself, even gradually. One small effort at a time. Drip by drip.
How do you save a million pesos (or dollars)? Something I started doing again after saving for our wedding. It’s by setting aside funds for investing. (Personally, I set aside twenty percent of my income which I invest in the stock market. Also important to mention, I set aside another ten percent as my tithe which I give to our parish. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” My tithes keep me grounded and remind me to trust in the Lord.) Recently, I also learned to save even the most insignificant of amounts, like petty changes and unused funds at the end of the month. The little amounts do add up. One peso (or dollar) at a time. Drip by drip.
Anything meaningful or worthwhile is built one day, one small effort at a time. Drip by drip. It requires our consistent effort, forward motion, and a tremendous amount of patience. A little dose of joy never hurts as well.
What are you building? What are you creating?
P.S. Dusting off a free guide to investing in the Philippine Stock Market which I created years ago. Hope it still helps. You’ll see that some links in the guide are no longer updated. But, the essential lessons remain the same. (You’ll also see how different my blog is today.)
